Getting ready

One day when I felt I should be tatting but couldn’t get myself organized to tat something on my list, I tatted this motif.  Nothing fancy or hard, just tatting and hoping something worth keeping would come out of it.

The center is pretty much the center from last years (?) snowflake with a little something more on the outside.  Not sure what I’m going to do with it, but I like it.

Mostly I’ve been very busy tatting planned items, getting ready for the craft show this weekend.  I’ve decorated a few more bags, made a few ornaments and put together a few odds and ends.  I always think I have more time before a show than I really do so I don’t really get busy until the last few weeks – way later than I should.
Then I stress about what I don’t have done, and how I’m going to get it done.
This week I have taken a couple of days vacation just to get ready.  I have a plan, a list of things that still need to be accomplished.  If I don’t have a plan I wonder around in circles (it seems) and get very little done, but with a plan the most important things usually end up getting finished. Sometimes late the night before but finished.  With a few days off this week to get ready could this be the show that I’m ready for early?
Hahahahaha! Probably not.
But I still enjoy doing craft shows whether I get everything done or not, or even if I sell much or not.  Tatting is put out there for people to see, and sometimes I get to talk to a few about it, too. Who knows, maybe someone will be intrigued enough about it to want to learn how.  And I stretch my imagination coming up with new things to make and get to see what other people have come up with.
A win all around.

  1. It's a gorgeous little motif!!! πŸ™‚
Sometimes I need to tat those little motifs just for the calming effect-not having to worry for a little bit about everything else I need or want to get tatted(or accomplished). πŸ™‚ Hope you are ready without too much stress!! πŸ™‚

  2. Lovely pattern and beautiful would make a lovely snowflake, I do craft shows and I have a trigg that my husband is told not to break, it's now about four years old kept in a place where no one would knock it during the year. It's brilliant for displaying snowflakes and people do buy them.
I did a craft fair last Saturday, there was two friends walking around, the first one said I want a birthday card, she looked though the basket and picked one, showed the other one "that's unusual ", her friends just grunted, she picked up another one and showed her, another grunt, her friend had a face and a look just like a pig, horrible woman. They walked off, I said to my husband I can get a grunt from a pig any day, he said yes just kick it. It was a very quite craft fair, although I did take my table money some of the crafters took very little or nothing. I have at least two more before Christmas,
Hope you have a good craft fair and sell lots.
I love your proverb for today it's very true.

  3. I have a slow going crazy quilt and add things to it from time to time and motifs look great stitched down to this, or on a Victorian journal cover. You really did a nice job just perfect

  4. Very sweet motif!

I'm glad I have other ladies in our group because long ago I found that I couldn't keep stressing about inventory. I set up the permanent displays (my tree and dollhouse, plus lots of different items I've made over the years, and linens and books, and they keep the inventory going! I usually have only a few items to sell! Do try to take some time out for tea, and to breathe!
